Pink Peach Tea from FUZE Tea
Italian food is incredible–don’t get me wrong, but there are certain things I crave from home. By spending an obscene amount of time in Oklahoma and Texas, you become accustomed to hot, humid weather in the summer. Something that goes hand-in-hand with those typically blistering summers is none other than an iced tea.
During a quick break in between classes, I couldn’t curb my craving, so I stopped at a restaurant to grab one. The brand seen everywhere is FUZE Tea, and I settled on the pesca and rosa flavor, which means pink peach in English. The brand was founded in 2000 and is owned by Coca-Cola, which decided to bring the tea to Europe in 2018. Since then it has taken Europe by storm, and I’ve seen it sold in a variety of different stores and restaurants in my short time here in Arezzo.
The slim packaging with green caps is appealing, and the rose and peach featured on the bottle help communicate the flavor, despite the language barrier. The packaging insinuates that it's low in calories while the ingredients support that–with one kcal per 100 ml.
From the first sip, I was taken aback by how sweet and powerful the peach flavor was. The peach almost overtook the flavor of the tea while it reminded me of canned peaches, or simply just concentrated peach juice. The second sip was a vast improvement after the initial shock of sweetness. The effervescent black tea seemed to come through as I continued to drink, and it became more refreshing as I downed the bottle. While it’s very different from America’s variety of teas, it fulfilled my cravings and I would recommend it to all sweet tea lovers looking for a taste of home on Arezzo’s hot summer days.
